Thackthwaite transformation
A classic case study where an old cottage and attached barn bore no resemblance to their long-obliterated origins, Shire Homes spearheaded the total transformation.
Replacing characterless windows with beautiful tailor-made sash casements and lacklustre doors with handsome wooden counterparts, the building’s heart and soul was
revived.
With the barn incorporated into the main house, stunning oak doors were completed with distinctive blacksmith-made fittings. Stonework was restored and re-pointed with lime mortar.
The old yard became a feature in its own right, with impressive sandstone round steps and setts.
Inside and out, the exciting fusion of old and new delighted the owners and is lasting testimony to Shire Homes’ extensive skills, inspiration and flair.
The delighted owners described the work as ‘exceptional’.
