Cross Brow – An Ambleside gem
Grade II listed Cross Brow had been converted into two apartments when Shire Homes was asked to restore this classic Lake District property.
Stripping the entire house back to basic stone structures, builders and joiners worked around compelling artefacts, including a kitchen well, Inglenook fireplace, traditional front windows and panelling.
The old well, covered with a glass top, became a unique walk-over feature in the stunning hand-crafted kitchen, where oak beams were restored to their former glory.
The imposing sandstone fire surround was copied and reproduced in the living room; windows and panelling renovated and a bespoke oak staircase and flooring fitted.
Landscaping, taking in beautiful stone walls and paved areas, completed the acclaimed assignment.
